Brethren,
Following the recent Grand Lodge Communication, I am pleased to share key highlights from this important event, which provided valuable insights for our Lodge’s ongoing efforts and future plans.
Attendance and Representation
Although our attendance was smaller than anticipated, we still made a strong impression. We continue to meet the requirements for Cornerstone status, and our presence was felt through the connections we established.
Community Support and Interest in Our Lodge
A major highlight was the overwhelming support and well-wishes from the Masonic community, reinforcing the camaraderie that defines our fraternity. There is also strong interest from various Grand Lodge officers in visiting our Lodge, particularly at our upcoming events. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance our Lodge’s visibility and showcase our commitment to ritual and tradition.
Grand Lodge Focus for the Next Two Years
The newly elected Grand Master outlined his vision for the next two years, focusing on Ritual, Education, and Mentorship (REM). This will ensure Lodges across the province are proficient in ritual work and maintain relevance in their communities, a goal we are already aligned with.
Financial and Membership Updates
A $10 increase in dues per member was approved to balance the Grand Lodge’s budget. In terms of membership, there was a slight decline, primarily due to natural losses, but it was less pronounced than in previous years. Some lodges have surrendered their warrants, while others have successfully amalgamated to form new Lodges.
Constitutional Amendments
Several constitutional amendments were passed, including changes to terminology, fee increases, and the ability for Lodges to amend membership dues without by-law changes. Some proposals, such as lowering the initiation age from 21 to 18, were defeated.
Conclusion
The focus areas of our Lodge—Ritual, Education, and Mentorship—are fully aligned with the Grand Lodge’s priorities. This encourages us to continue developing these aspects while embracing an expanded role within the Masonic community. Our commitment remains steadfast, and we are poised to strengthen our Lodge even further in the years ahead.
Thank you, Brethren.
