The master’s chair

Season’s Greetings Brethren,

As the holidays approach, let us keep vigilant and stay safe. I pray and hope that all of you and your families are doing well.

There is a lot happening in St. Andrews. R.W. Bro. Gillis proposed a candidate ZOOM series where potential candidates, friends and all Masons are invited to listen in and ask questions about our beloved fraternal order and get some sense of understanding. The kick-off virtual call was on November 14, 2020 led by R.W. Bro. Gillis and facilitated by Bro. Federico. M.W. Bro. Mumby was invited to speak and offer his perspective and experiences in Freemasonry. It was well attended and well received, Masons and potential candidates were very much engaged. I highly encourage all of you to dial in, you will not be disappointed. This is now a monthly virtual call with a myriad of interesting speakers and various topics of discussion that will peak the interest of any mason. This initiative is now being discussed at the district level and might be something that will be implemented at that level.

Congratulations R.W. Bro. Gillis, excellent work!

Another initiative was proposed by Bro. Levere, to set up a St. Andrew’s virtual library and build a repository of various books and papers on any masonic subject.

Brethren will be able to visit our website and choose a book they would like to read, contact the brother that owns it and ask to borrow it. Within the next few weeks a call-out will be sent out and anyone who has a masonic library that he would like to share with the lodge, will be able to do so. Keep your eyes peeled if you are interested. This will give brethren the chance to grow their masonic knowledge and assist them in their journey to masonic enlightenment. Great suggestion Bro. Levere!

As you can see, even if we cannot meet in person, it doesn’t mean that we don’t keep going. It is up to each man himself to find the motivation and desire to do so. I want to remind all of you that the lodge is there for you. I am very happy for the great initiatives from the brethren and I am very proud of our lodge.

“Let us remember the four cardinal virtues in word and in practice and how they can assist us in our daily endeavors”.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

W.M. Elias Lakkis 2019-2021
